I spent over 7 years in the US Navy as a nuclear plant
operator and supervisor. The experience is difficult to explain and appreciate to
one who has never had the pleasure/torture. To this day, I still have mixed thoughts
on the subject. Pride and a feeling of accomplishment are coupled with disdain and
mockery. Memories of great friends are clouded by memories of inane tyrants.
The excitement and energy associated with the responsibilities I held and the
experiences I was involved in are tempered by the memories of long separations from home
and long hours of mindless abuses. I will leave you all to make your own judgments
and conclusions on this
I qualified submarines (SS Designation) on four boats.
