Statement of Content

The world wide web has become a repository for a great deal
of valuable information. For those who dig deep enough, the light of wisdom and discovery
is theirs to bask in. Unfortunately, it has also become a garbage can for the ill-thought
out or pointless home pages of many individuals with very little to contribute and a keen
desire to let the world know it.
It is my goal to ensure that my personal website leans decidedly towards the former and
not the latter by offering useful and/or original (or semi-original) information on these
pages.
There are two kinds of people who may find their way to visit this website (this does not
include people who will simply stumble over it).
- Friends or acquaintances who wish to learn more about me and
how fascinating I am ( this includes old friends who may be trying to find me again).
- Individuals who could not care less who I am, think I am
singularly un-fascinating, and who are simply on a quest for information related to one of
the subjects listed on this Website.
I estimate approximately 99% of all my visitors will be in
the second category. It is very unlikely that they will care to wade through the endless
narcissistic ramblings of my site to uncover the content therein. It is for these
individuals that I have created the below table.
This table lists all of the pages on this website which deal directly with either useful
information or concrete original subject matter, and which are buried under little if any
self-amorous babble.
It is my goal that your visit to Calypso's World will be rewarding. If this means you
visit each page, then I will be very happy. If however you despise the "Fluff"
surrounding personal websites, than I hope the table below will help you obtain your goal
in coming here without wasting your time.

The Mobius Paradox:

Opening with a nice short description of German
Mathematician August Ferdinand Mobius (1780-1868), this page contains original poetry
written by yours truly. The poems are generally short, straightforward and a bit dark.

Writings:
This page contains a written collection of my thoughts on
such areas as engineering theory, politics, and office/workplace humor and pet peeves.
Each article or editorial was published between 1991 and the present in various newspapers and
industry journals.

Dante's Hell:
For those of you interested in Dante's "Inferno",
I have created this page. It offers a nice short description of the various levels
of the Inferno, who is there, and has an accompanying map.

Politics:
Internal links from this page to other pages on this site
covering information on the various modern political philosophies practiced throughout the
world and particularly the U.S. Some soft content surrounds this info, as well as my own
personal beliefs and opinions.

History
It has been
said, “If you do not know where it is you came from, it is impossible to
understand where you are headed to…”
A more well know version of a similar sentiment is that “those
who do not know history are condemned to repeat it”.
I am a firm
believer in both of these posits. This
relatively new addition to Calypso’s World is dedicated to that belief
and its consequences – History, in particular American History, and its
effect on who and what we are, and should be, as a people and a nation.

Blue Waters:
Information and internal links from this page to other
pages on this site covering fishing (particularly SCUBA diving,
bluefish, albacore tuna, and New
Jersey), lifeguarding and Marine
Biology. Again, as with the politics page, some soft content surrounds this
information.

Calypso's Jukebox:
A sub-section of my Music page
(which lists links to many bands/artists/composers as well as other interesting
information), Calypso's Jukebox has sound clips and full length
recordings (for those with patience or a T-1 line) in .au and .wav format. The Jukebox
selection includes alternative/dance, classic rock, and classical sound files. Everything
from Wagner and Mozart, to Pink Floyd and Queen, to Dishwalla, Nine Inch Nails, and
Erasure.
