There was once a time when my heart was ice,
and pain was the cup from which my soul drank.
Then in you came.
Wandering the torturous passages of darkness,
which was my spirit.
Heedless of the protective snares I laid down,
in a quiet, desperate attempt to waylay any intrusion into my private Hell.
And when coming within view of those black walls behind which I lay hid, sitting high upon
a throne of past wounds,
You smiled that way you do, and dust was all that remained of those once proud barriers.
And when confronted with final defeat, having been thwarted at each attempt to hold you at
arms length,
Surrender was my only option.
And I surrendered.
I surrendered myself to the power and light of your love. I surrendered to the warmth
which melted the numbing ice.
And once again, I could feel.
I surrendered, and from the thorns around my heart,
sprung roses of pure love.
"Never again!" was what I swore once before. Now, " Always and
Forever" are the words which beg leave of my lips.
For in love, you have saved what could not be saved,
and reached, what was once unreachable.
And for that, I love you...
And I surrender...
